On August 17, 2008, St. Alban's welcomed a new Rector, The Rev. Brent Owens.

Father Owens grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio, and Tampa, Florida.  He attended high school in Maryville, Missouri where he met his future wife, Malinda.  After receiving a business degree from Indiana University, he attended law school at Stetson University in St. Petersburg, Florida.  He went on to become a Civil Trial Attorney and practiced for 15 years in Tampa and Southeast Florida.

 

Reverend Owens graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary in the Southwest (ETSS), Austin, Texas, in May of 2005 with a Masters of Divinity degree.  He began his ministry at St. Barnabas in July of that year, and was ordained to the priesthood on October 29, 2005.

 

Reverend Owens’ interests include road bicycling and mountain biking in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.  A real “car guy,” he raced in vintage Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events in a Triumph Spitfire and has restored numerous British sports cars.

 

The Owens’ children are: Jillian, age 22; Bradley, age 18, and Crystal, age 11.
